6 Truths About Starting a Business Online (or Any Business)

6 Truths About Any Business … (For those who want to start a business online)

You are here to learn how to make money from home …

But unfortunately the truth is often disguised by those wishing to either attract you to buy their product "one click of your laptop will instantly win $ thousands thousands $ $ on the Internet while watching the soap operas." Or that "he has been jumping from one MLM company to another in the last 6 months and I swear by your mother, your grandmother, your dog that this is the company that will make you a millionaire if you take this miraculous" cure-all "that can only be found at the tip of this special iceberg".

BY GOD! This seems to be a virus spreading by what they call the New World Order to keep us busy but without hope.

So the first thing we will do is learn what thousands of others have learned (including me), and that applies to any business.

Truth # 1 There is no such thing as a "free lunch" (Free Lunch)

Every Business will cost money to make money, the important thing is to be careful how you spend your initial investment. On the internet you will find so called "Gurus", "AntiGurus", and the poor who discovered a system or software and tomorrow night to your laptop spits money every minute and now a month later have race cars, mansions, exotic travel, one month stays in 7 star hotels, surrounded by beautiful women, all in just 1 month. Now these "good people" want you want to buy their book for $ 97 (today's special $ 77) and the reason is that you can make money selling the same book you just bought. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee !!

When you engage in a business, you have to work it. POINT. Even those programs that claim you do not have to do anything, have a part in its documentation that says something like … "just have to promote your website."

This is the problem that most people have when it comes to developing a strong online business. Anyone who tells you to start and make a business successful online is easy and requires no effort is not being completely honest. Now this does not mean it is not fun, rewarding, honorable, inspiring and lucrative, and even more so when we can retire from a regular job to devote our full time, effort and dedication to our business.

Truth # 2 you should always exercise "leakage" (leverage)

What is leverage? It is the ability to bring people and / or resources to work for a common goal. When several people work together toward a goal it is much easier and more productive than one person doing all the work themselves.

Imagine you paint your house. How much quicker would it be if you had two people instead of one? Or what if you had five working? Alone, maybe it would take 10 hours to paint your whole house, this means with 5 people putting forth the same effort it would only take 2 hours. That my friend is the power of leverage.

Truth # 3 Friends and Family do not understand or even really care what you do.

They remain in a traditional job, thinking it will last 40 years. Little do they realize that in today's economy this company could go broke overnight. They are blinded by traditional thinking and will probably never pay attention to your journey to success until you actually arrive.

Vacation is reserved for convenience not their but but the company, and sick days are limited. While it takes some time and effort to develop your own business to replace your current income, when you've achieved your goal you can make your vacation plans and design your business around your life, not vice versa.

Truth # 4 The Roman Empire was not built in a day.

Likewise your business will not grow from nothing to hundreds of $ $ in a week. (It has happened but it is not the norm)

Many people become "Opportunity Grasshoppers", and if an opportunity does not produce them $ $ in 3 weeks they move (or jump) to the next.

Like the story of the farmer who planted corn, and a week later only saw one green sprout of barely protruding from the ground and decided that he was going to take them out and plant tomatoes because apparently this ground would produce no corn. Because he did not have patience he died without ever seeing a harvest.

Any company no matter the product, or compensation can earn you money when you take the time to market it, talk to prospects. Just as plants if you do nothing your business will not prosper if you withdraw your plants too early.

Truth # 5 If you want to replace your job, you should work your business as a job.

If you treat your business like a hobby, then do not be surprised when it only grows very, very slowly if even at all. You have to make the decision to see it as another job and take more responsibility for your effort so see success.

What does this mean in rice and beans? You must take time to market efficiently, talking with a number of people per week, as if you were employed by another to do so. This is your future … your retirement … your ability to stay home with your family and continue to generate revenue. Choosing when and where your next vacation will be. Remember it takes work to achieve all of your goals and desires.

Truth # 6 You must develop multiple income streams

Create multiple streams of income is like having an insurance policy. Do not put all of your eggs in one basket because if that basket was lost or stolen you would have to start all over from scratch. With multiple income streams flowing into your bank account you never have to worry because one drop off you have many others to sustain you until you can create another stream to replace the one that was lost.

Can I Have Your Autograph?

Being a celebrity means dealing with fan demands for autographs, ranging from polite and appropriate to rude and overbearing. One time Katherine Hepburn was performing on Broadway and tried to exit backstage through a crowd of jostling autograph hounds. Bodyguards helped her to her limo and once safely inside the very private star roled down the window and shouted, "Run em down! We'll clean up the blood later!" The crowd scattered and the limousine sped away, pausing long enough for Hepburn to roll down the window and wave goodbye to her fans, accompanied by an evil laugh. Strangely enough, when she lived in Beverly Hills the seclusion loving Hepburn developed the habit of sneaking into her neighbor's houses as a hobby. She became expert at climbing trees, avoiding alarms and dogs, and revealing herself just before her nervous neighbors called the police.

Walt Disney had the strange experience in the 1930s of having his name famous around the world when his face was not. Often he would forget his identification and that combined with his casual attire sometimes kept him out of fancy restaurants. Later in the 50's he became a recognized figure because of his television hosting duties. The lack of anonymity made it increasingly difficult for him to walk through Disneyland without being badgered for autographs. Disney struggled not to be brusque while explaining he did not have time, he was trying to make the park a better place. In the 60's when the company was trying to purchase Florida marshland for a second amusement park, he was warned by his advisors to stay away from the state, the real estate prices would go up once the identity of the buyer was known. But Disney could not resist. Eating in a Orlando diner Walt was approached by a curious waitress, "Pardon me. Are not you Walt Disney?" Walt who was known for being brutally honest, replied, "Hell no! And if I see that sob, I'll give him a piece of my mind."

Stars making movies at Universal Studios often try to avoid tour guides leading autograph hounds. One particular fellow became ingenious at tracking down Michael Caine, who toyed with the idea of having the young man fired, then decided, "What the hell, I'll just sign" and was gracious. It turned out to be a good move, the tour guide was Mike Ovitz who later became the most powerful talent agent in Hollywood.

When stardom is new, autograph signing can be a thrill. One night in Paris the 60 year old Cary Grant and 25 year old Sophia Loren wanted to go out to dinner. "But the people will come up to us. I can not stand it!" said the jaded Briton. "I love it," said Sophia. When they left their hotel Grant complete with his hat folded down, dark glasses, his scarf wrapped around his face, and his huge overcoat looked like the Invisible Man. Sophia looked like Sophia. As they walked the streets of Paris people began to come up to her for autographs which she joyfully signed. After a few fan encounters Grant began to get jealous. Down came the hat, off came the glasses, the coat and the scarf and soon he was standing under neon lights to get noticed.

Another English actor named Grant was thrilled by his breakout stardom due to the movie Four Weddings And A Funeral (1994). Hugh Grant would drive around New York looking for the theaters where the film was playing then get out and wait in line, happy for the attention and to sign autographs. Later when he was arrested in Los Angeles for burning prostitute Divine Brown, he turned down requests to put his signature on tabloids containing his mug shot.

Some actors just sign out their annoyance. One time Arnold Schwarzenegger was being interviewed at a press joke when a reporter asked him for an autograph for his mother, a big no-no. The star grimaced and said, "Of course. I would not want to disappoint your mother." He paused then added, "I'm sure you have disappointed her enough already."

Autographs can cause internal conflicts for stars who take themselves too seriously. During the making of Klute (1971) Donald Sutherland received a written request from a fan who wished for an autograph for his daughter. Sutherland showed the letter to his humorless girlfriend Jane Fonda who expressed a strong opinion that he should not sign it, autographs that that movie actors are somehow superior to others. Sutherland bowed to her philosophy and wrote a letter stating his reasons for refusing the request. The man wrote him back, "Dear Mr. Sutherland, thank you for your letter.

Bouldering in Bishop, California

I was breathing heavily and my palms were sweating. I moved my hands and feet up the rock the way the muscles in my body remembered to, and I didn’t dare look down. I told myself I had to make it… and when I finally made it to the top, a massive wave of relief washed over me… And that, my dear friends, was the story of how I climbed my first V0 highball.

There was no grace, there was no finesse, and I’m sure I could have climbed (what is considered the easiest bouldering grade in climbing) with a little more elegance, but Ms. Never-Doing-a-Highball finally did her first highball.

Location: Bishop, California

Coordinates: 37.3635° N, 118.3951° W

Elevation: 4200ft

Type of Climbing: Boulder, Sport, Trad

Geology: Volcanic Tuff, Quartz Monzonite

Known for: Premier Highball Bouldering

Prime Season: Nov-April

Star Rating (out of 5): 5*

It was 4 months into our relationship when David and I went on our first weeklong road trip together. I, for one, believed it was a relationship survival test masquerading as a climbing trip, but what better way to learn if your boyfriend is the one for you than to be enclosed together in a metal box on wheels for 20 hours? Thankfully, the relationship came out alive, and 20 long hours later, we made it to the land of skin-splitting highballs.

The actual town of Bishop is quite big, and the residents and visitors consist of not only climbers, but of other outdoor enthusiasts alike. The locals are blessed to have the popular bakery known as Erick Schat’s Bakkerÿ famous for their original Sheepherder Bread®. For us, their chili-cheese bread was a great way to refuel our bodies after a hard session of climbing rock, although I’m sure many high-performing athletes would have disagreed…

For $2 USD a night, we stayed in „the Pit“ campground. Our accommodation unit was David’s Green Honda Element, commonly known as „the Hulk“. The back of the SUV was converted cleverly as our sleeping space, cushioning the hard plastic ground using one tattered, sad-looking Madrock crash pad.

During the week that we were there, we had a simple routine. I called it, the „Routine of the Valley People“… (for no apparent reason other than it sounded pretty frickin‘ awesome). The days would always begin with the sweet light of nature’s alarm clock, the sun. After having an easy breakfast of yogurt and cereal, we would clean up, pack up the crash pads, and head straight into town for our first stop. We needed our daily boost of caffeine and our „go-to“ was Looney Bean, a coffee shop just off the main road. There, we would update on our social media sites and write back home to let our family and friends we were still alive.

After our morning duties, we went out to play!

There were three main boulder areas that David was most familiar with:

1) The Buttermilks (his favourite)

2) The Happy Boulders

3) The Sad Boulders (my favourite)

On our first day, we hit up the Happy’s. It was pretty overcast that afternoon but the conditions were good. Warmer days made it harder to climb as a result of less friction; cooler days were favourable. The Happy’s was where I climbed my first highball. I wasn’t entirely keen at first, but when one is in the land of highballs, one must climb a highball…

After our first day of preparing ourselves up for the week ahead, we headed back into town and grabbed some essentials, namely food and toothbrushes. Our meals weren’t too extravagant, but they sure beat a lot of other campers‘ meals. (That happens quite often when your boyfriend is an amazing chef, even with the most limited of resources.)

On the consecutive days, we would mainly climb at the Milks. This climbing venue is quite possibly the most well known if not most popular area in Bishop. It is home to some of the hardest routes in the world such as the Mandala V12 and Evilution V11 in the milks.

A unique feature of the Milks includes the highballs, which could reach up to 5-stories high at the peak. While highball climbs are ones I stay shy of, it’s breathtaking and awe-inspiring to watch other climbers push their mental game.

During our entire stay, we had two rest days. One was spent at a natural hot spring at a slightly secret location (in which I will only reveal the whereabouts in exchange for your favourite secret location… or „the Google“); the other rest day was spent in a secluded stretch of brush and weeds where we basked in the sun, played around, and drank beers. We also had a game of „pull body hairs out with tweezers“, but it got old real quick.

On some nights, we had big bonfires and invited our neighbours over for beers. One particular night, I pulled out my ukulele and our neighbor Yve brought over her Mandolin. Together, we jammed over the dancing flame and into the night. It’s pretty wild yet clear how one place can bring so many people of different avenues together.

Bishop, hands down, has been one of my favourite climbing playgrounds. It is a land where desert plains are dusted with sand-coloured boulders resembling colossal eggs; where the view from the top is strikingly different yet immensely magical all the same. Bishop, we will see you again some day.

Evaluating Credit Card Offers: Essential Terms You Must Understand

Credit card offers, they're everywhere! They appear in your mailbox. They pop up while you're surfing the Internet. They're in slick brochures next to the cash register or gas pump. They're in full-page ads in the Sunday papers.

If you need a new credit card, how do you choose? You should evaluate each offer carefully, and to do that you must understand these essential terms.

Annual Percentage Rate (APR) :

The interest rate charged on your account balance. (But see "Balance Calculation Methods," because the rules for computing interest from your balance and your APR can vary.) Your statement will typically show the APR and a monthly and / or daily rate based on the APR that's actually used to calculate your monthly interest. There may be several APRs applicable to different portions of your balance, for example an introductory rate, a regular purchase rate, and a regular cash advance rate.

A fixed APR is set by the credit card company, which can generally change it with as little as 15 days advance notice, especially if you run afoul of any of the "gotchas" in the terms. These "gotchas" are often very consumer-unfriendly. For example, many companies these days reserve the right to raise your rate if you've been late on a payment to another, unrelated company.

A variable APR is tied to some widely used economic index, such as the Prime Rate. It may be stated as "prime + x%, currently y%," for example "prime + 7%, currently 13.5%." This means that when the Prime Rate is 6.5%, your APR is 13.5%. When the Prime Rate goes up or down, so does your APR. But beware, because some of the same "gotchas" apply to variable APRs as to fixed APRs. Read the fine print. It may state that if you're late with one payment, your APR will no longer be variable but will rise to an exorbitant fixed rate, usually over 20%.

The penalty APR is the rate to which your APR will immediately be raised when you violate any of the "gotchas" in the terms. This rate is usually at least 50% higher than the regular APR. Again, be sure to read the fine print to see what situations will trigger the penalty APR. You'll often see these: failure to pay this or any other account on time, exceeding your credit limit on this or any other account, excess credit balances on your accounts in aggregate.

Balance Calculation Methods:

These are important to understand, because your APR is only part of the story when it comes to calculating the interest you'll be charged each month. The other part is how the balance is calculated to which the APR is applied. In any case the balance is multiplied by the daily or monthly interest rate. But the balance calculation is not as straightforward as you might think.

1. Two-Cycle Balance. This is the worst method from a consumer's point of view because it can lead to the highest interest calculations. Unfortunately, it's also becoming the most widely used method. To calculate the balance, add together the average daily balances for the current billing period (sometimes even including new charges) and the previous period. Here's why this is so unfriendly to you. Say you have run a balance for a few months and finally pay it from $ 200 down to zero at the end of May. You think it's safe to use the card in June for a new $ 100 purchase, and if you pay the $ 100 by the end of the June grace period, you will not owe any interest on it. But you're wrong. Since your average daily balance in May was not zero (say it was $ 120), and since you used the card in June, your interest will be calculated on May's average balance again, so even if you pay the whole June purchase in June, you will still owe additional interest. In other words, you must wait two months, allow the account to cycle once with a zero balance, before it's safe to use it again – "safe" in the sense that you will not incur extra interest if you pay the balance in full by the end of the grace period.

2. Average Daily Balance. This was once the most common calculation method and is still popular. Add the daily balance for each day in the billing cycle, then divide by the number of days in the cycle. Depending on the terms, this may or may not include new charges.

3. Adjusted Balance. This is the best method from a consumer's point of view, but it's rapidly going the way of the dodo. Take the balance at the beginning of the billing cycle, then subtract any payments or other credits recorded during the cycle. Do not include new charges during the cycle. For example, if your beginning balance was $ 1200, and you paid $ 400 during the cycle, the balance to which your monthly rate will be applied is $ 800, regardless of any new charges.

Balance Transfer:

This means that you're charging card X to pay off (all or part of) the balance on card Y. So the balance is, in effect, transferred from card Y to card X. Why would you want to do this? Usually to take advantage of an introductory low interest rate when applying for a new card. Look closely at the terms. Sometimes these introductory rates last only a few months. The best ones are for the life of the balance. You will often have to pay a transaction fee equal to 3% of the balance transferred. Sometimes these fees are capped at $ 75 or so. Be sure to see whether or not the transaction fee excepts what you'll save in interest. If so, do not do it. Sometimes the credit card company will agree to waive the fee, especially on a new account. Do not be afraid to ask.

Cash Advance:

A cash loan charged immediately to your credit card account. Usually there is no grace period for paying off a cash advance, which means you'll be charged interest starting from the day of the loan, even if you pay it in full by the end of the billing cycle. Also this type of charge may have a higher APR than purchases or balance transfers. Check your terms. Note that some kinds of transactions, like buying casino chips or lottery tickets, may be valued as cash advances. This can also apply to writing a purchase check to your own bank account. Be sure to read the fine print.

Credit Limit:

The upper limit on your account balance. Exceeding it may result in penalties. Be very careful if your balance is close to the limit ("maxed out"), because you can exceed it without charging anything new if you fail to pay enough. Remember that just because the company has approved you for a certain limit does not mean you can afford to take on that much debt.

Disclosure Chart:

An important portion of the Terms and Conditions statement. It's a little bit like the Nutrition Statement on a food package because the law dictates what has to be listed here. If you can not stand to read all the fine print, be sure that you read this part.

  1. fixed APR or APRs after any introductory rate (s) have expired
  2. rule (s) for calculating variable APR (s) if applicable
  3. grace period
  4. annual fee if applicable
  5. minimum per-cycle finance charge
  6. additional fees if applicable, such as cash advance fees
  7. balance calculation method
  8. late payment and delinquency fees
  9. over limit fees

Grace Period:

The time, calculated from the account cycle date, during which you can pay the balance in full without having any interest charged. This usually applies only to purchases, and only if you've paid the previous month's balance in full and on time. (Sometimes even that's not enough. See "Two-Cycle Balance" calculation method for an additional "gotcha.")

Pre-Approved:

This can be very misleading. It does not mean the company is guaranteeing to issue you the card in the offer. It just means that they chose you to receive this offer based on some general screening of your credit report. They always reserve the right to deny or alter the offer based on a more detailed examination of your records.

Advertising Your Products and Services on Cars

Marketers have a massive problem trying to cut through the advertising 'clutter.' Without a customer is looking for something specific, they switch off and avoid adverts, they change the channel during television intermissions, skip pages in magazines to get past the ads and talk through advertising breaks on the radio.

Ideas are constantly implemented to overcome this, some work, some do not and some simply irritate the audience who are not interested at all. But some of the best ones are transported out by portraying the message exactly where the interested customer will be.

A lot of people can not avoid driving. There is no much more to do on the road than look at other cars. This creates an opportunity. There are a lot of firms nowdays that arrange to have cars covering in advertising graphics. The car owners are paid a small amount to do so. The owners themselves are free to choose what company's graphics their vehicle is covered in.

For the advertiser the key advantage is that the cars will be seen driving around, stuck in traffic, in car parks and spaces. They in effect become a constantly moving billboard banner. This is a way of reaching people who may be awkward difficult to contact in any other way.

The vehicle graphics are applied with a convenient plastic wrap, which means they can be changed very easily. The drivers are also chosen by the kind of places they go, so it is quite straightforward for an advertise to recognize who will be best to reach their specific target market. For example a golf club manufacturer would be very comfortable to advert on a driver who played golf and parked their car in their local club's car park twice a week.

Car adverts need to be short and sweet. Often the audience will only have a few seconds to see the ad as the vehicle drives by. The right kind of driver is extremely important to find your specific advertising audience. Also if possible a driver who likes your products or service is a good idea, since they are more likely to talk to their friends and family about it and further promote it themselves.
