Radio is one of the oldest media forms in the world. Long before television existed, radio served to bring the nation together to listen to news, stories and generally enjoy a common experience. Television has largely filled the role that radio once held, but radio as a medium has grown into places that television can never completely control if the status quo remains the same.
For example, while in car television is popular, it does not have the potential offered by radio. This is due largely to our society and our mentality about driving alone. Millions of commuters everyday tune into their favorite radio shows, rather than watching television, because we’re talking about drivers, rather than passengers.
That said, commuters have more choices in radio programming now than ever before. What options are available? Well, for starters, consumers can choose between free radio and satellite radio. Why would you want to pay for radio when you can listen to stations free of charge? There are quite a few reasons, actually. One reason may be that you live in an area where radio reception is poor (areas on Oklahoma come to mind), or perhaps your area does not offer the station formatting that you prefer. Satellite radio offers an enormous breadth of channel selection. You can choose talk radio, sports coverage or any kind of music format that you can conceive.
What about portability; is satellite radio limited to in-vehicle use only? Hardly; depending on the receiver setup that you purchase, you can listen to Sirius or XM in your car, in your home or through a boom box option or even listen to it while walking, jogging or biking. There are quite a few receivers that have multi-format options. Most of these are specifically designed to appeal to consumers looking for broad application benefits. In short, they’re designed for consumers who want to use the same device, access the widest range of programming options, wherever they might be.
Which satellite radio company is the best choice? Currently, Sirius and XM are very close, though XM does offer a few more channels, while Sirius has more unique programming options. Regardless of the proposed merger of the two companies, formatting is likely to remain the same. This means that you can still hope to gain access to all of your favorite programming and show hosts.
Sirius radio is the faster growing of the two providers. There are a couple of reasons behind this. One of the reasons is that the satellites used by Sirius offer better reception in parking garages and downtown area, as well as extending their range father north into Canada. Another reason that Sirius is gaining in popularity is due to the original programming they offer, including unique talk show personalities like Howard Stern and other original formats like Led Zeppelin Radio and unique musician show hosting platforms. No matter what sort of programming you want, you’ll find it with Sirius radio, usually in spades.Immobilienmakler Heidelberg Makler Heidelberg
